This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was poor.  In part (a)(i) candidates correctly state faults committed during rally in a badminton game and in (a)(ii)  candidates could not correctly state conditions that would make a service valid in the game of badminton.  In part (b) candidates could not correctly explain the terms  used in table tennis game: set point, volley, and rally respectively.  In part (c) candidates correctly mention skills in badminton game.

However, the expected answer were as follows:      
6 (a) (i) Faults which could be committed during rally in a badminton game

• failure to return the shuttlecock over the net into opponent’s court
• touching the shuttlecock with the body or dress
• a  receiver strikes the shuttlecock before it crosses over the net
• touching the net or its support with the racket, body dress during play
• the shuttlecock passes under the net
• playing the shuttlecock into the net
• playing the shuttlecock to land outside the boundaries lines
• playing the shuttlecock to touch the roof, ceiling or the side wall.

(ii)        Condition that would make a service valid in the game of badminton

The server

• must wait until the umpire directs/must wait until the receiver is ready
• must ensure that the shuttlecock at the instant of being struck is below waist
• must stand within the limits of his service area
• must ensure that the head of the racket at the instant of striking the shuttlecock is below any part of the hand holding the racket
• must ensure that the served shuttlecock lands in the appropriate area of the receiver’s court
• must ensure that the served shuttlecock cross over the net into the opponent half

(b)      Explanation of each of the following terms as used in tennis game

(i)          Set point
              A point which if won by the player who is ahead wins the set.
 (ii)        Volley
              Hitting the ball in the air before it bounces/touches the ground.
 (iii)       Ralley
              A continuous play between opposing players.
