Observation

This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance was good. In part (a) (i) some candidates could correctly mention rules guiding throw in a game of football.  In part (a) (ii) many candidates were able to state instances when a referee awards a direct free kick in a game of football. In part (b) majority of the candidates correctly listed skills in hockey game. In part (c) many candidates correctly listed types of shots in basketball game.

However, the expected answers are as follows:

4a(i) RULES GUIDING THROWING IN FOOTHBALL GAME

• player must face the field of play
• the player must remain the field of play
• both feet must have contact with the ground
• ball must be thrown from behind and over the head
• ball must be thrown with both hands
• player taking a throw in must not  play/touch the ball until it has been touched/played by another player
