This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was
poor. In part (a)(i) and (ii) candidates could not correctly explained adapted
Physical Education and corrective physical education. They wrote wrong answers
such education which an individual is trained to adjust to strenuous activities.
In part (b) candidates could not correctly state conditions for which an adapted
physical education programme is necessary. In part (c) candidates correctly stated
objectives of First Aid although, few state wrong answers such as to treat individual
before the arrival of the doctor and provision of quick treatment before visiting the
doctor .
The expected answers are as follows:
6(a) EXPLANATION OF EACH OF THE FOLLOWING
(i) ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical education programme that caters for the needs of individuals who have deviations from the normal due to disease congenital /accident/environmental hazard/named handicap e.g. paraplegia, deafness etc.
OR
For individuals who are unable to participate in the normal/regular physical
education programme for any reason.
(ii) CORRECTIVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION
A programme designed to improve/correct postural defects/defects/deformity as
a result of injuries/named/explained.
(b) CONDITIONS FOR WHICH ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME
IS NECESSARY
- poorly coordinated.
- mental retardation.
- visual impairment.
- emotional disturbance.
- physical handicap/challenge.
- exceptional/gifted/talented.
(c) OBJECTIVVES OF FIRST AID
