Observation

 

(a) Ilé tí mò ń gbé: Candidates were expected to describe their residential houses. Most candidates who attempted this question performed fairly well, although some of them dwelt on the occupants of the house rather than the building and its surrounding.

 

  • (b) Eré akọ́nilọ́gbọ́n kan tí mo wò : :This is a narrative essay on an educative play the candidates watched. Some Candidates who chose this question performed fairly well while some of them failed to mention the name of the author, where and when they watched the play.
  • (d) Àgbàdo : This is an expository essay on corn. This essay enjoyed good patronage by those candidates who actually know about corn, how it is cultivated and the foods made from it.
  • (e) Bàbá ló ni ọmọ: This is an argumentative essay on “The father owns the child”. Candidates were required to write in favour or against the above assertion in Yoruba.
    Some of the candidates dogmatically wrote in favour of one side of the topic thereby reducing their chance of scoring reasonable marks in this question.
  • Lẹ́tà sí gómìnà ìpínlẹ̀ rẹ lórí àwọn nǹkan tí o fẹ́ kí ó ṣe láti máyé-dẹrùnlásìkò ìṣèjọba rẹ̀: This is a formal letter that required candidates to write a letter to the Governor of their state, telling him what needs to be done to improve the standard of living in the state during his tenure in office. The candidates who chose this question used the appropriate format. Most candidates tackled this topic very well. However, some of them failed to write the addressee’s address before the initial greeting which precedes the title of the letter.
