Observation
(a) This is a descriptive essay on the Candidates’ boss. Most candidates who attempted this question performed fairly well.
(b) This is an argumentative essay. Candidates were expected to argue for or against free education. Most candidates merely argued straightforwardly in favour of only one of the two opposing thoughts. More work is needed in the teaching of the argumentative type of essay.
(c) This is an expository essay on cash crops. Very few candidates attempted this question.
(e) This is a narrative essay on an odious occurrence witnessed by the candidates. Most candidates who attempted this question performed quite well.
(ẹ) This is an informal letter that required the candidate to write a letter to a friend who resides in another town, explaining the current situation of the candidate’s town.
