This was another popular question and the candidates’ performance was average. They really had a good idea of the question. However, a few candidates performed poorly and score low marks. The candidates were expected to write the following points as answers to the question.

1. Biased electoral institutions.
2. Abuse of incumbency.
3. Absence of an independent judiciary.
4. Mass poverty.
5. Illiteracy and ignorance of the electorate.
6. Inaccessible voting centres.
7. Fake and unverified news.
8. Paid and sponsored media.
9. Vote buying.
10. The use of political thugs.
11. Manipulation of electoral processes.
12. Inadequate funding of the Electoral Management Body.
13. Inadequate security at polling and collation centres.
14. Unequal access to state media.
15. Improper demarcation of electoral districts/constituencies.
16. Imposition of unaffordable/prohibitive filing fees by the Electoral Management Body.
17. The desperate desire of the political elite to win at all cost.
18. Inadequate political education.
19. Inadequate logistics.
