Observation

This was the most popular question in this Section as most of the candidates remembered how God ordered Saul to destroy the Amalekites.They were able  to remember that the spirit of God left Saul for an evil spirit which tormented him.  But some few failed to mention some points like:

  1. Samuel confronted Saul to register God’s annoyance against him;
  2. Saul defended himself by asserting that they were for sacrifice;
  3. Samuel asked Saul whether God had delight in burnt offering;
  4. For his disobedience, Samuel said, ‘to obey is better than sacrifice’.

As for the (b) part, all those who chose this question scored high marks as they  were able to do justice to it.  They outlined their points as follows:
  1. Saul’s kingship was taken away from him;
  2. The spirit of the Lord left him/He became mad/insane;
  3. Saul and his three sons perished at the battle of mount Gilboa.
