Observation

 

 

This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance was fair. In part (a) (i) few candidates could correctly draw and label a javelin. In part (a) (ii) they did well in it.  In part (b)(i) some candidates could not correctly place the athletes in their various positions. In part (b)(ii) this question was answered by majority of the candidates and they did well in it.  In part (c) most of the candidates could not correctly state rules that make a javelin throw valid during a competition.
However, the expected answers are as follows:

  • athletes are allowed three or six trials in which the best trial is credited
  • the tip of the javelin must scratch/pierce the ground within the landing area/sector
athlete must not haul the javelin
