  (ii) three instances in which players change ends in a tennis match;           [3 marks]
(iii) three instances in which the ball is not in play in a tennis game.         [3 marks]
 (d)  Name two parts of the table tennis racket.     [2 marks]

Observation

 

 

This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance was good. In part (a) (i) many candidates were able to state service faults in a badminton game. In part (b) (i) and (ii) many candidates did well in it. In part (c) their responses showed that they were used to the games . In part (d) many candidates correctly named parts of the table tennis racket.

However, the expected answers are as follows:
(a)       Service faults in badminton game

  • serving without releasing the shuttle
  • losing contact with ground while serving
  • hitting the shuttle above the waist
  • crossing the service line/middle line while serving
  • carrying the shuttle with the racket while serving
  • serving to the net
  • serving under the net
  • serving unto wrong service court
  • if the served shuttle landed outside the court
